11. I hate algorithms
Reflect on the entire semester, providing details of three things you learned from the course.
Perhaps, because I am self-centered, self-indulgent, and a little masochistic, I learned more about myself through this project, more specifically, this course. I rediscovered my love for commas and em dashes and semi colons, because, as my friend Erin says, it matters what we say and how we say it. I was reaffirmed in my creative capabilities. I always have to Google the difference between ability and capability. I solidified the fact that I do not like generative AI. And certainly, I learned just how much of my consumption patterns are dictated by algorithms.
I made conscious efforts to digest diverse media throughout this semester because my habits were under a microscope. This was one of the main reasons I began reading SubStack articles—I hate algorithms.
